The 29th National Biosafety Committee (NBC) approved the country's first-ever Genetically Modified (GM) Soybean for import. The pivotal meeting, held on October 23, 2024, at the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination (MoCC&EC) in Islamabad. It was chaired by the Secretary of MoCC&EC along with the Director General of Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency, Islamabad and esteemed NBC members.
