32nd NBC Meeting

The 32nd National Biosafety Committee (NBC) Meeting was held on February 21, 2025, at the Ministry of Climate Change & Environmental Coordination (MoCC & EC), chaired by the Secretary of MoCC & EC.

Key Decisions & Approvals:

GMO Approvals: The committee granted approvals for:

• 6 laboratory research projects
• 4 field trials
• 1 commercialization application
• 5 import applications for genetically modified (GM) soybean grain intended for Food, Feed, and Processing (FFP)

Consensus-Based Decision-Making: All cases were unanimously endorsed following a thorough evaluation based on the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) recommendations.

The NBC remains committed to strengthening biosafety regulations, fostering scientific innovation, and ensuring responsible adoption of biotechnology advancements to support sustainable development.
