The Ayub Agricultural Research Institute (AARI), established in 1962, is a leading research organization driving growth in key crops across Punjab, Pakistan. With its main campus in Faisalabad and a network of research centers, labs, and farms across the province, AARI focuses on developing new crop varieties, advanced technologies, and sustainable practices to ensure food security, enhance export potential, and conserve natural resources. The Ayub Agricultural Research Institute (AARI), Faisalabad, houses a state-of-the-art GMO Testing Laboratory. This facility plays a vital role in monitoring unauthorized GM crops and events in Pakistan. By isolating genomic DNA from samples like seeds and leaves and detecting GM elements through PCR with gene-specific primers, the lab ensures stringent biosafety measures. It also oversees import/export activities of agricultural products, maintaining compliance with national and international standards to support sustainable agriculture.
